How to Stand Out

Hey everyone! Today's topic is about how to beat the competition and stand out among your peers. This might be a tricky topic as this will require you to self actualize and reflect on your inner self. This blog post might force you to reflect on your strengths and weaknesses, which is something we should all do time to time. This activity helps us be grounded and humble and also allows us to become better individuals. Self actualization is very important to do when trying to decipher exactly what trait makes you different compared to everyone else.

 In order to stand out, we will first need to self actualize. Hence grab a piece of paper and pen and jot down these points:

1) What are my strong characteristics as a person?
2) What are my weak characteristics as a person?
3)What are my skills/talents?
4) What do people like/dislike about me?
5) What is my brand?

For this activity, honesty is the best policy. You will have to honest as this exercise will work best with reality and not a fabricated version of yourself. It is important to list your strengths and then also your weaknesses. This way you will be able to see if your weaknesses are in a sense preventing you to improve your strengths to their highest potential.

Thirdly, you will list your skills/talents. I know some people might be fixated on this but talent can be as simple as being a funny person or writing essays/letters well. It can also be more obvious talents such as playing instruments or being gifted in mathematics. However, you can also be talented in singing, or dancing.

Next, you will list the things people have said about you- the good and the bad. It is important to list the good things about yourself first as listing dislikes might be a hard pill to swallow. However, listing negative things is important to improve yourself for the world. Now, you might think that this step is not necessary as you live for yourself and not for others. This way of thinking might be true, but remember we live in a world with other inhabitants. In order to be successful in this world, you must acquire believers in your product/personality. The more followers you have the more valid currency will you retain.

Lastly, after listing the strengths, weaknesses, skills/talents, and peoples perceptions about you, you will  now pay attention to the specific brand you have to offer. This can be as small as making instructional videos on YouTube, or being a foodie on Instagram. Time and time, we have seen these brands grow exponentially because there is a demand for these interests. The reason why these brands have become popular over the years is because the person running the admin is truly passionate about their interest. With this interest, they are able to cater to the many people that would love to follow. By focusing on your brand, you will see how being your own brand is the most important step in standing out.
